IIO Deploys to an Officer-Involved Shooting in Vancouver (IIO 2016-000100)

Surrey – The Independent Investigations Office of BC has deployed investigators to an officer-involved shooting in Vancouver.

According to Vancouver Police Department, officers responded to a call about a car on fire in the area of Hastings and Cassiar St. in Vancouver. Upon arrival, police report they were confronted by a male affected person who was in possession of a knife. Shots were fired, the man was taken into custody and has since been transported to hospital with injuries.

IIO Investigators will be conducting standard tasks including obtaining physical evidence from the scene, interviewing any civilian witnesses and designating and interviewing officers.
