Surrey – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO) confirms that an adult male involved in a motor vehicle incident with police in Squamish has died.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday March 13, 2018, an unmarked police vehicle was involved in a collision with the pedestrian at the intersection of Highway 99 and Garibaldi Way in Squamish. Emergency Health Services attended the scene and the male pedestrian was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
On Wednesday August 1, 2018, the IIO was notified that the man had died in hospital. IIO personnel have been in contact with his family and the investigation into the incident continues.
