Surrey. B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is seeking a key witness to an incident in Langley.
RCMP reported that on October 23, 2019, shortly after 3:00 a.m., officers attended the location of an abandoned 911 call. At the intersection of 72 Avenue and 208AStreet, Langley, officers located a male. While attempting to make an arrest an altercation occurred.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., RCMP notified the IIO that the male was deceased.
The IIO has identified the following witnesses as being able to provide valuable information to the investigation.
- The driver and or occupants of a light coloured SUV travelling eastbound on 72 Avenue before making a right hand turn onto 208A Street at approximately 3:22 a.m. on October 23, 2019.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
