Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC has now completed its investigation into an April 10, 2025 motor vehicle incident in Langley where several people and two officers were injured.
Just before 2:30 p.m. on April 10, 2025, officers with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) and Integrated Police Dog Services were following a vehicle, a Toyota, believed to have been involved in a robbery, eastbound on 36 Avenue.
Near the intersection of 36 Avenue and 200 Street, the CFSEU vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle driven by a member of the public, a Chrysler Sebring, that was travelling northbound on 200 Street. Following the initial impact between the CFSEU vehicle and Sebring, there was also contact with a Dodge Ram.
The sole occupants of the Sebring and Ram were both taken to a hospital for treatment, as were the two officers in the CFSEU vehicle.
The Toyota was subsequently stopped by police nearby. The four occupants sustained minor injuries while being arrested and were also taken to a hospital for treatment.
The IIO was notified by police on June 17, 2025, when they became aware that the driver of the Sebring reported he may have sustained injuries that meet the IIO’s threshold for serious harm. The IIO then commenced an investigation.
The chief civilian director has reviewed medical evidence collected by IIO investigators and determined that none of the injuries resulting from the collision or arrest meet the threshold for serious harm, as defined by the Police Act.
The IIO investigation is now concluded.
