Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC has now completed its investigation into an August 18 motor vehicle incident in Vancouver.

At around 10:30 a.m., a marked police vehicle attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a man riding a motorcycle near the intersection of W Cordova and Howe streets.

The driver of the motorcycle was then involved in a single-vehicle collision. Police arrested the man and took him to the hospital for assessment and treatment.

The IIO was notified about the incident shortly after it occurred and began an investigation.

The chief civilian director has reviewed medical evidence collected by IIO investigators and determined that none of the man’s injuries resulting from the collision meet the threshold for serious harm, as defined by the Police Act.

The IIO investigation is now concluded.
