Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia has deployed investigators to a fatal motor vehicle incident that occurred last night in Vancouver.
Information provided by the Vancouver Police Department states that at about 9:10 p.m. yesterday (November 6, 2024), officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a motorcycle. It is reported that the motorcyclist did not stop.
A short time later, the motorcycle collided with a parked vehicle near the intersection of E 8 Avenue and Victoria Drive. The male rider of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The IIO was notified of the incident shortly after it occurred and commenced an investigation. Initial steps will confirm the details of the attempted traffic stop and what role, if any, police actions or inaction played in the death.

Background
