SURREY – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) has been deployed to a critical incident of an officer involved shooting near Boyd Street in New Westminster.
According to police, on January 15, 2016 at approximately 12 p.m. officers from the New Westminster Police Department were responding to a call of a male causing disturbance near the 800 block of Boyd Street.
Officers arrived on the scene and located the subject of the complaint. The male affected person was shot and transferred to hospital for further assessment.
The IIO was notified at 12:12 p.m. and investigators have been deployed to the scene. Investigators will be conducting standard tasks including obtaining physical evidence from the scene; interviewing any civilian witnesses and designating and interviewing officers.
