Surrey – The Independent Investigation Office of B.C. has deployed investigators to a fatal incident involving the Burnaby RCMP.
Initial information provided to the IIO by the police suggests:
- At approximately 4:00 a.m. police located a male inside a vehicle in a parking lot in the 200 block of Willingdon Avenue.
- Attempts to verbally engage the man were unsuccessful and the assistance of the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team was requested.
- ERT officers later approached the vehicle and confirmed the male was deceased.
IIO Investigators will be conducting standard tasks including obtaining physical evidence from the scene, reviewing available CCTV footage, interviewing civilian witnesses and interviewing officers.
