Surrey – The Independent Investigation Office of B.C. has deployed investigators to a fatal incident in Qualicum Beach.
According to RCMP, on October 12, 2017, at 6:03 a.m., officers were responding to a report of a male in distress in the 39000 block of Inland Island Highway.
RCMP notified the IIO that a struggle ensued between the male and officers and he was subsequently shot by police. He did not survive his injuries.
IIO Investigators will be conducting standard tasks including obtaining physical evidence from the scene, interviewing any civilian witnesses and designating and interviewing officers.
