Surrey – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is investigating a Motor Vehicle Incident in Coquitlam that occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on February 5, 2018.

Initial information provided to the IIO by the RCMP suggests that an officer was conducting a traffic stop along Highway 1 westbound near the Port Mann Bridge after observing a vehicle speeding. The male driver is believed to have exited the vehicle, crossed the barrier and was subsequently struck by an oncoming vehicle. The male was taken to hospital and is in serious condition.
