Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C. is investigating the death of a person reported missing in Lumby, B.C.
Just before 1:00 am on December 29, police received a call about a missing person. They searched without success until approximately 3:30 am. At approximately 4:00 am, the missing person was located by a family member. After medical intervention by B.C. Emergency Health Services, the person was pronounced dead.
The IIO is investigating the circumstances surrounding this death. Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the IIO witness line at 1-855-446-8477.
Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
