Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a motor vehicle incident in Enderby.
Information provided by the RCMP indicates that on August 30, 2020 at approximately 11:00 a.m., officers received several reports of a motorcyclist without a helmet travelling north on Highway 97 in Vernon. A short time later, the motorcyclist was observed in Enderby by an officer who attempted a traffic stop. The motorcyclist did not stop and sped away northbound.
The motorcycle was involved in a collision shortly thereafter at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Highway 97 at Springbend Road. The rider suffered serious injuries.
The IIO will investigate to determine what role, if any, the officers’ actions or inaction may have played in the serious harm of the man.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
