Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a motor vehicle incident in Langley.

Information provided by RCMP indicates that on August 26, 2021 at approximately 12:40 a.m., an off-duty member of the RCMP driving a grey Subaru Outback eastbound on the Langley Bypass near 196 Street was involved in a collision with a male pedestrian who sustained an injury.

The man was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The IIO has commenced an investigation into the officer’s actions to determine if they may have committed an offence. The Langley RCMP is investigating the collision.

Background

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
