Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating a motor vehicle incident that took place around 10 p.m. on May 21, 2024.

Information provided by the Central Saanich Police Service states the affected person (AP) was riding a bicycle along Wallace Drive, later determined to be in the 7100-block, when he was struck by a marked police vehicle.

IIO was notified of the incident the same day.

The IIO is asking any person who has relevant information or video footage related to the incident to please contact the IIO Witness Line toll-free at 1-855-446-8477 or via the contact form on the iiobc.ca website.

Background                                                                                          

The IIO is the Independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
