Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Vancouver.
Information provided by the Vancouver Police Department indicates that on July 17, 2021, police attended an alleged break in at a residence in the 6200-block of Adera Street. Two men were located at the residence with the assistance of a police service dog and placed under arrest.
Both men sustained dog bite-related injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
