IIO is Investigating Incident Involving a Woman While Being Arrested in Vancouver (2024-265)

Information provided by police states that shortly before 4 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call about a woman waving a weapon and threatening people near Fraser Street and East 41st Avenue.
Officers located the woman after arriving at the location and attempted to arrest her.
An interaction then occurred between officers and the woman, who suffered an injury.
She was taken to a hospital for treatment and later released.
The IIO was notified a short time later and has now commenced an investigation.
Initial investigative steps will seek to confirm the extent of the woman’s injuries and whether or not they meet the threshold of serious harm as defined in Part 11 of the Police Act.
