Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating the recent injuries sustained by one man involved in an incident with an off-duty member of the RCMP in Langford.
Information provided by the RCMP states that at around 2:25 p.m. on March 20, 2024, an off-duty RCMP officer was travelling southbound in the 2500 block of Millstream Road when there was a collision between the officer’s unmarked police vehicle and a man operating a bicycle.
The man sustained serious injuries in the collision.
The IIO was notified of the incident the following day and commenced an investigation. Initial investigative steps will seek to confirm the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Background
The IIO is the Independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
