IIO is Seeking Witness to October 2024 Arrest of One Man in Vancouver (2025-026)

Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is seeking witnesses to the injuries sustained by one man while being arrested by members of the Vancouver Police Department on October 21, 2024.

Information provided by the affected person states that he was outside a business in the 800 block of Granville Street in Vancouver at approximately 5:30 p.m.

The man then became involved in a police incident and was arrested and taken to hospital with injuries.

The IIO was notified earlier this year and has commenced an investigation.

Initial investigative steps will seek to determine the extent of the man’s injuries, as well as confirm the details of the arrest and if officers’ actions were necessary, reasonable, and proportionate in the circumstances.
