Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C. has attended a motor vehicle incident in Kelowna.

RCMP reported that on May 25, 2019, at approximately 03:30 a.m., a collision occurred between an off-duty police officer and a cyclist on Harvey Avenue, Kelowna.

Emergency Health Services attended and transported the male cyclist to Kelowna General Hospital, where it was determined he had suffered serious injuries.

The IIO is asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the IIO witness line at 1-855-446-8477.

Background:

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
