Surrey. B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has been notified of a police-involved incident in North Vancouver.
Following a welfare check at a residence in North Vancouver, RCMP filed a missing person report on September 03, 2019.
On September 05, 2019, RCMP reported to the IIO that the missing female was located at her residence at approximately 1:15pm. Emergency Health Services later declared the female deceased.
The IIO has commenced an investigation to determine what role, if any, the officers’ actions or inaction may have played into the death of the female.
Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
