IIO Seeks Additional Witnesses, Provides Update into October 2025 Arrest in Surrey (2025-231)

Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is seeking additional witnesses to the arrest of one man in Surrey on October 6, 2025 (IIO 2025-231).

At about 8:40 p.m., a Surrey Police Service (SPS) officer saw one man shouting aggressively at a group of women in the 10700 block of 135a Street.

Police arrested the man, who sustained a serious but not life-threatening injury while being taken into custody.

The IIO was notified of the incident shortly after it occurred and started an investigation.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who saw the incident, including those that might have video footage to contact the IIO.

Investigators have now completed canvassing and have collected evidence, including medical and other reports. Analysis of these reports continues. Investigators have also interviewed multiple civilian witnesses and are still looking to conduct interviews with Surrey police officers.
