IIO Seeks Witnesses, Provides Update into October 2025 Motor Vehicle Incident in Penticton (2025-259)

Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is seeking additional witnesses to a motor vehicle incident that occurred in Penticton on October 31, 2025 (IIO 2025-259).

Between 9 and 10 p.m., a man was stopped by members of the RCMP while driving a black Suzuki GSXR 600 motorcycle westbound on the 100-block of Green Mountain Road.

There was a collision between a police vehicle and the motorcycle the man was driving, which occurred somewhere on the road between a gas station and storage centre.

The man was released by police following the collision.

The incident was reported by the man driving the motorcycle and the IIO began an investigation.

The IIO has now confirmed the man’s injuries meet the threshold of serious harm, as defined by the Police Act.

So far, the IIO has canvassed the area and obtained evidence including video, medical documents and other reports. Analysis of evidence obtained to date continues.

Investigators will continue interviewing witnesses and police officers. They are asking anyone who may have seen the incident on October 31, 2025 or have further video footage to call the IIO.
