Surrey – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has withdrawn a court petition in relation to the death of Myles Gray seeking an order for a witness officer to attend for interview. The officer has now been interviewed by the IIO; as such, the IIO’s court petition has been withdrawn.

“I am pleased that we were able to find a way of resolving this matter,” said Ron MacDonald, the IIO’s Chief Civilian Director. “I am confident this resolution will avoid unnecessary delay while maintaining the integrity of our investigation.”

The IIO’s progress in this investigation continued throughout the filing of this petition. As the bulk of the investigative work is now complete, the next step will be to conduct a review all of the material and determine if there are any outstanding tasks.

Background
