Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is providing an update about an investigation into an April 2025 incident where four people were injured (IIO 2025-109).

At about 11:40 p.m. on April 26, 2025, an officer driving a marked police vehicle attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a blue motorcycle.

The motorcycle, ridden by two male youths, was subsequently involved in a collision with a taxi that was occupied by a man and woman near the intersection of Victoria Road and Milton Street.

The two youths on the motorcycle were seriously harmed in the collision and are now both recovering at home. The two taxi occupants were not seriously injured.

Canvassing and interviews of all identified witnesses are completed, as are interviews with officers and other professionals who attended the scene. The IIO is awaiting reports from specialist services that have been engaged to analyze evidence and provide more information.
