Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC continues to seek witnesses to an arrest that happened overnight between July 10 and 11, 2025, where one man was injured (IIO 2025-171).
The IIO investigation has confirmed that an arrest that occurred last week following a man allegedly breaking into the nearby Denman Place Mall occurred nearby on Nelson Street between Gilford and Denman streets. Investigators have also confirmed that the arrest happened closer to 11:30 p.m. on July 10 than 12:30 a.m. on July 11 as was initially reported.
It is alleged that the man was injured while being taken into custody and, after being seen by a nurse at the Vancouver Jail, was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The IIO investigation into the incident continues.
