Update to Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation

The IIO was deployed to an officer-involved shooting in Surrey, on Thursday, November 7.
Over the past six days, IIO investigators have conducted standard investigative activities including identifying and interviewing witnesses, designating officers, follow up with the affected person and obtaining other evidence. The affected person has been released from hospital. The Surrey RCMP remains responsible for the parallel investigation.
At the conclusion of the IIO investigation, the Chief Civilian Director will consider if an officer may have committed an offence. If so, he will make a report to Crown Counsel. If he does not consider that an officer may have committed an offence, he will release a public report with his findings.
