As part of its commitment to transparency, the IIO strives to provide thorough and timely information to the public.
Public reports are related to cases where the Chief Civilian Director (CCD) has determined that no offence has been committed. If the CCD concludes an officer may have committed an offence, the CCD will refer the matter to Crown Counsel for consideration of charges.
The public report may include a summary of circumstances that led to the IIO asserting jurisdiction, a description of the resources that the IIO deployed and a summary of the results of the investigation if the matter has not been reported to Crown Counsel.
On occasion, public reports will be translated to accommodate the needs of the affected person/family.
There are several search fields to make it easier to find a particular case you are interested in. Search by file number, date, location and police jurisdiction.
