New Investigations – Jurisdiction Sustained

On the afternoon of June 4, RCMP officers attended a report of a disturbance at a residence in Burnaby. While the officers attempted to take an adult male into custody, a Conducted Energy Weapon was deployed. The male affected person became unresponsive. Despite efforts to revive him, he died at the scene. The IIO was notified immediately and deployed investigators to the scene.

On the evening of June 4, RCMP officers attended a report of a disturbance at a residence in 100 Mile House. Upon their arrival, they encountered an adult male who reportedly fled the scene. The male was located later that evening, taken into custody and lodged in the 100 Mile House RCMP Detachment. It was discovered that he had sustained a serious injury to his arm, and the IIO was notified.

On the morning of June 10, Vancouver PD officers allegedly witnessed a male adult shoot an individual in the Yaletown area. The officers immediately confronted the alleged shooter and an exchange of gunfire occurred. The male fled the location was ultimately confronted by additional officers near Science World, at which time another exchange of gunfire occurred between the male and police officers. The male affected person sustained serious injuries as a result of gunshot wounds and was admitted to hospital for treatment. The IIO was notified immediately and deployed investigators to the scene.
