Surrey – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has deployed investigators to an officer-involved-shooting in Salmon Arm.

The RCMP reported that on January 07, 2020, officers attempted to apprehend a male in Salmon Arm following complaints of damage to a property.

The Emergency Response Team were requested to contain the male. During this interaction, shots were fired by police and the male did not survive his injuries.

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
