Surrey – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has deployed investigators to an incident in Vancouver involving a male who suffered injuries.
Initial information provided to the IIO by the Vancouver Police Department suggests that at approximately 9 p.m. on Thursday March 15, 2018, a distraught male was threatening to set himself on fire near Commercial Drive and East Broadway Avenue.
Police say they negotiated with the man and deployed a less lethal ARWEN gun. The male was then transferred to hospital with serious burns. The IIO was notified and initiated an investigation as the male’s injuries appeared to be serious harm.
IIO investigators are on the scene and any potential witnesses of this incident are asked to call the IIO at 1-855-446-8477.
