Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a police-involved shooting incident in North Vancouver which resulted in the death of one person*.
Information provided by the RCMP indicates that at about 7:30 p.m. on November 12, 2022, police responded to a report of a person who allegedly attempted to harm another person with a weapon in the 3700-block of Hamber Place. It was also reported that an individual, believed to be the same person, was breaking into another nearby residence.
An interaction followed, and shortly before 7:45 p.m. police fired shots. Emergency Health Services attended and transported the individual to the hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.
The IIO has deployed investigators to the scene and commenced an investigation.

The IIO is the Independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
