Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating an arrest in Surrey where one man sustained injuries.
Information from the affected person states that in the evening on January 26, 2025, the affected person, a man, was arrested by members of the RCMP’s Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit in his home.
The man reports that he was injured while being taken into custody.
The IIO was notified on February 7, 2025 when the man contacted the office. Initial investigative steps will confirm if the man’s injuries meet the threshold of serious harm as defined in the Police Act.
