Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a motor vehicle incident in Kamloops that resulted in one man sustaining serious injuries.
Information provided by the RCMP states that at about 10:55 p.m. on July 22, 2023, an officer responding to an unrelated incident parked and exited their police vehicle on Highway 1 westbound at Holman Road.
A short time later, there was a collision between a motorcycle, the parked police vehicle, and another stationary emergency vehicle. The rider of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries in the collision and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The IIO was notified of the incident the following day, and initial investigative steps will seek to confirm the details of the collision, including the location of all vehicles prior to and during the collision.
