Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a motor vehicle incident in Vancouver which resulted in serious injuries to one man.
Information provided by the Vancouver Police Department indicates that at about 3:20 a.m. on September 20, 2022, a police vehicle driving eastbound in the 100-block of East Hastings Street was involved in a collision with a pedestrian.
The man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
The IIO has commenced an investigation into the collision.

Background
The IIO is the Independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
