Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a motor vehicle incident near Pemberton.

Information provided by the RCMP indicates that shortly before 7:00 a.m. on February 21, 2022, an off-duty member of the Pemberton RCMP driving northbound in their personal vehicle, a Jeep Gladiator, was involved in a collision with a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe on Highway 99 near the Soo River Forest Service Road.

The driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries in the collision. The officer also sustained minor injuries. Both were transported for treatment.

Background

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
