Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Abbotsford.
Information provided by the Abbotsford Police Department indicates that on July 12, 2020 at approximately 11:00 a.m., officers responded to a call regarding an assaultive resident at a home in the 2000-block of Center Street. Officers arrived and a police service dog was used to assist in the arrest of the man.
The man was subsequently taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
