Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Abbotsford.

Information provided by the Abbotsford Police Department on November 9, 2020 indicates that earlier the same day at approximately 3:25 a.m., police received information regarding an alleged incident involving a woman at an address in the 33500-block of Huntingdon Road. When officers arrived, they located the woman who reportedly did not comply with police commands. A less-lethal firearm was used, and the woman was taken into custody without further incident.

Emergency Health Services attended and transported the woman to a local area hospital for treatment.

Background

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
