Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Enderby.

Information provided by the RCMP indicates that on November 11, 2021 at approximately 11:30 a.m., police in Vernon received a complaint regarding a man allegedly removing the license plate from a vehicle before departing in a grey Dodge Caravan. A short time later, it is reported that a vehicle matching that description was observed travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 97A toward Armstrong.

About 30 minutes later, police located the vehicle at a residence on Canyon Road in Enderby, and the male driver was subsequently located at about 1:00 p.m. While being arrested with the assistance of a police service dog, the man sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The IIO was notified of the incident the same day it occurred and has commenced an investigation.

Background
