Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Lake Country.
Information provided by the affected person, a man, indicates that on September 11, 2020 at approximately 7:35 p.m. he was stopped by an officer while driving his blue 2012 Mazda 3 on Highway 97 near Lodge Road. An interaction occurred during the traffic stop which resulted in the man sustaining a serious injury.
The IIO is investigating to determine what role, if any, the officers’ actions or inaction may have played in the man’s injury.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
