Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Pemberton.

Information from the RCMP states that at about 2:25 a.m. on May 17, 2022, police received a report regarding the location of a vehicle that was believed to be stolen.

Officers attended and, with the assistance of a police service dog, arrested a man and a woman. The man sustained serious but not life-threatening dog bite injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The IIO was notified shortly after the incident occurred and has commenced an investigation.

Background

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
