Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Vancouver.
Information reported by the Vancouver Police Department states that at about 6:50 p.m. on April 1, 2022, police received a report regarding a man with a weapon in the 500-block of Alexander Street.
Responding officers located the man in the 500-block of Railway Street. The man sustained a non-life-threatening injury while being taken into custody.
The IIO was notified shortly after the incident occurred and has commenced an investigation.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
