Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an officer-involved shooting incident in Vancouver.
Information provided by the Vancouver Police Department indicates that early in the morning on August 17, 2021, police responded to a call for assistance at a building in the 700-block of Drake Street. When police arrived, there was an interaction with one man and shots were fired by police.
The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.*

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
