Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating a motor vehicle incident which resulted in serious injuries to one man in Langley.
Information provided by the Langley RCMP states that in the early morning on March 18, 2024, an officer observed a black Mazda travelling east on 16 Avenue and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
It is reported that the Mazda did not stop and was involved in a collision at the intersection of 16 Avenue and 264 Street. Both occupants of the Mazda were injured and transported to a hospital. The male passenger was seriously injured, while the female driver sustained only minor injuries.
The sole occupant of the other vehicle involved in the collision was uninjured.
The IIO was notified of the incident shortly after it occurred and commenced an investigation. Initial investigative steps will seek to confirm what role, if any, police actions may have played in the collision.
