Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is seeking witnesses of a shooting incident in Merritt.
As detailed in the previous release, on June 6, 2021, police attempted to stop a white Ford F-350 at various locations as part of an ongoing investigation. The IIO is asking any witnesses who may have observed the truck as it travelled on the route described to please contact the IIO.
The first interaction occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m. near Saddleman Road and Highway 5A in Quilchena, BC. Later, between approximately 5:10 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., the truck was observed near Quilchena and Highway 5A, on Highway 5A between Quilchena and Nicola Avenue, on Highway 5 at Nicola Avenue in Merritt, and lastly at the junction of Highways 8 and 97C, near Snake Road.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
