IIO Seeking Witness to, Provides Update into December 2025 Fatal Motor Vehicle Incident in Surrey (2025-296)

Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is providing an update to a motor vehicle incident that occurred in Surrey on December 25, 2025 (IIO 2025-296).

Around 6:00 a.m., Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers driving a marked police vehicle while leaving a gas station in the 10800 block of 132 Street, were involved in a collision with a woman.

Emergency Health Services attended and took the woman to a hospital, but she was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The IIO investigation into the incident continues.

To date, investigators have canvassed the area, interviewed witnesses, collected video evidence, and carried out forensic examinations, among other tasks. The analysis of the evidence obtained to date continues, while the IIO also expects to conduct further interviews.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen the incident on December 25, 2025, or who has video footage not already provided to the IIO, to contact the IIO.

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of officers and detention guards in British Columbia. It investigates all incidents involving officers or detention guards that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
