Surrey – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is seeking witnesses to a police incident in Vancouver on November 04, 2018.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., officers observed a vehicle reported as stolen being driven eastbound on East 29th Avenue, Vancouver. As police attempted to stop the vehicle it collided with a police and civilian vehicle in the 3100 block of East 29th Avenue, between Lillooet Street and Manor Street.
The male operating the motor vehicle exited from the drivers’ side and a foot pursuit ensued west bound on East 29th Avenue. Approximately half a block from the motor vehicle accident, officers located the male and made an arrest.
The IIO is asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the IIO witness line at 1-855-446-8477.
Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
