Surrey. B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has deployed to a police-involved motor vehicle incident in Kamloops.
RCMP reported on September 03, 2019, at approximately 4:20 p.m., an officer was conducting traffic speed enforcement on Westsyde Road, Kamloops. The officer observed a motorcycle travelling at high speed in the opposite direction and turned to follow the motorcycle and activated the vehicle emergency lights. When coming around the corner, the officer found the male motorcycle rider had collided with a pick-up truck.
The motorcyclist was transported to hospital with injuries determined to be serious harm. There were no other injuries.
The IIO has commenced an investigation into the incident to determine what role, if any, the officers’ actions or inaction may have played in the injuries suffered by the male.
