Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Coquitlam.
Information provided by the RCMP indicates that on August 1, 2021 at approximately 3:20 a.m., police responded to an incident involving a man at a residential building in the 1100-block of Heffley Crescent. Officers attended and entered the building. Shortly after, the man reportedly fell from an upper floor to the ground.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The IIO will investigate to determine what role, if any, police actions or inactions may have played in the death.
