Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating the injuries of one man in a motor vehicle incident in Kelowna.
Information provided by the Kelowna RCMP states that at about 5:25 p.m. on April 15, 2024, an officer observed a man riding a motorcycle southbound on Highway 97 North and attempted a traffic stop.
It is reported that the motorcycle did not stop and was involved in a single vehicle collision shortly thereafter on the off-ramp from Highway 97 to University Way.
The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the collision and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The IIO was notified of the incident shortly after it occurred and commenced an investigation. Initial investigative steps seek to confirm if the man’s injuries meets the threshold of serious harm, as defined by the Police Act.
