Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a motor vehicle incident in Mission which resulted in serious injuries to one man.
Information provided by the RCMP indicates that at approximately 9:15 p.m. on October 8, 2022, police responded to a collision between a truck and motorcycle in the 29700-block of Lougheed Highway.
The driver of the truck was an off-duty member with the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment.
Emergency Health Services attended and transported the motorcyclist to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The IIO has commenced an investigation to determine what role, if any, the officer may have played in the man’s injuries.

Background
The IIO is the Independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
